Litecoin: confirms a block reward halving

Share

In a Litecoin Foundation post, the project said its halving is 12 months away and block rewards are set to drop from 6.25 LTC to 3.125 LTC on July 27, 2027.

A halving reduces the rate of new LTC issuance by 50 percent, which slows future supply growth on a permanent schedule. That change affects Litecoin’s tokenomics directly by making new coins enter circulation more slowly, tightening scarcity relative to the prior issuance path.

Because halvings are scheduled and recurring, the announcement is more of a known supply-side catalyst than a change to Litecoin’s broader thesis. The practical effect comes from the issuance cut itself, while any later market response depends on how participants price in a preannounced event.

Litecoin’s halving is exactly 12 months away, and this one is different
