Best Euro And US Dollar Travel Money Rates: December 2025 ‘Best Buy’ Roundup

Best Euro and US Dollar Travel Money Exchange Rates

In our latest study, and last for this year, Exchange Rates UK Research analysed 25 holiday-money providers and found that online specialist TravelFx is offering the best exchange rates for British travellers.

We focused on both Euro and US Dollar travel cash with all rates last updated on 1 December 2025.

Our comparison covers buying physical currency with British Pounds, not interbank money transfers, and measures how much cash a traveller would receive for £750, along with whether they can collect it in person or rely on home delivery.

Euro travel money findings

Our study shows that TravelFx delivered the standout euro exchange rate at the beginning of December, offering 1.1307 EUR per pound.

That equates to roughly €848 for a £750 order, although it is an online‑only deal requiring home delivery.

We also found strong performance from Currency Online Group and Covent Garden FX, both of which allow branch collection and return more than €845 on £750.

However, our researchers noted that high‑street banks and supermarkets fared poorly: HSBC and First Direct were at the bottom of the table, offering only about 1.0873 EUR per pound (roughly €815 for £750).

Our takeaway:  We observed that a difference of just a fraction of a cent in the exchange rate adds up to more than €30 on a £750 transaction.

Our study therefore recommends avoiding high‑street banks when buying euros.

US Dollar travel money findings

Our pound‑to‑dollar analysis mirrored the euro results. TravelFx again topped the league with a rate of 1.3100 USD, yielding about $982.50 for a £750 purchase. This offer is available by home delivery only.

We found that Covent Garden FX and Currency Online Group were close contenders, returning around $982 and allowing collection.

At the bottom of our results were RBS, NatWest, HSBC and First Direct, which paid just 1.28 USD to 1.26 USD, translating to $960$947 for £750.

Our takeaway:  We calculated that travellers could save around $22 by choosing TravelFx over RBS or NatWest for a £750 exchange, and more than $35 when compared with HSBC or First Direct.

Our study shows that TravelFx remains the standout provider for both euro and US dollar travel cash as of 1 December 2025, delivering approximately €848 or $982.50 on a £750 order.

Covent Garden FX and Currency Online Group trail closely and offer the convenience of branch collection.

We found that relying on high‑street banks could cost travellers more than €30 or $35 on the same amount of holiday money.

How we conducted the research

We concentrated on travel‑cash providers rather than live interbank rates.

Our researchers found that the best pound‑to‑euro travel cash rate on 1 December 2025 was 1.1307 EUR from TravelFx. The leading pound‑to‑dollar rate was 1.3100 USD, again from TravelFx, when buying £750.

We gathered all rates on 1 December 2025; they may vary slightly at the time you buy.
