The National Bank decreased net sale of currency on the interbank foreign exchange market in the period from August 3 to 7 by 11% compared to the previous week to USD 1,018.52 million, which is the largest volume since the beginning of this year.
This is evidenced by NBU data, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
During the reporting week, the National Bank bought USD 0.2 million, while it sold USD 1,018.72 million.
Since the beginning of the year, the NBU has bought USD 2.05, while it has sold USD 28,966.1 million.

For 2025, the National Bank bought USD 42.15 million, while it sold USD 36,103.47 million.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in 2024, the NBU bought USD 126.28 million on the interbank market and sold USD 35,312.64 million.
In 2023, the NBU bought USD 219.85 million on the interbank market and sold USD 28,829.73 million.
The NBU did not buy or sell euros in 2023.

In 2022, the National Bank purchased USD 3,267.95 million and EUR 110.97 million on the interbank market, while selling USD 26,380.59 million and EUR 1,789.11 million.
The National Bank is considering changing the base currency for its exchange rate policy from the US dollar to the euro.
This scenario is still hypothetical, but it is driven by a number of geopolitical and economic factors.
