Thousands of Irish Revolut users are set to be refunded over €100,000 over an ATM charging error.
With over 3.4million users using the banking app, Revolut has confirmed that over 80% of the adult population have the app in one form or another.
While many would use the app to send and receive money between each other — although some people use it the old-fashioned way, putting their card into an ATM to withdraw some cash.

While some people like to keep fiat currency in their pockets, those who used Revolut to withdraw money between June 30 2023 and February 26 2024 may be entitled to compensation, as the bank has confirmed that a ‘third party ATM provider’s error’ affected over 100,000 customers.
Revolut currently provide five ATM withdrawals a month, or withdrawals up to €200 a month, without a fee.
However, some people were mistakenly charged a fee, with Revolut confirming on Friday (June 19) that they were refunding customers who were affected.

Those who were impacted will see a refund of around €3.95 on average — a payout of nearly €442,000 for the bank.
‘During the period 30 June 2023 to 26 February 2024, certain Revolut customers made one or more ATM withdrawal(s) where an ATM access fee was incorrectly applied by a third-party ATM provider,’ a statement from Revolut said.
‘This ATM access fee was applied solely by the ATM provider, was not at the instruction of Revolut, and was not passed on to Revolut. There is no relationship between Revolut and the third-party ATM provider.’
‘Nevertheless, Revolut is stepping in to refund affected users in the best interest of its customers, while the technical issue which initially caused the error has been resolved.’
