It’s the news everyone has been waiting for – the next actor to play James Bond. But can it really be true Jessie Buckley will be taking on the role of 007? We think not…
It was announced earlier today that the actor who will become the next James Bond has been revealed. And the name cited as the latest 007 was, in fact, Jessie Buckley.
Reported by the euronews website, they said: “The casting news we’ve all been waiting for has finally dropped, and the reveal of Daniel Craig’s successor as 007 may surprise some James Bond fans… After years of incessant rumours, the news has finally dropped… We now know the identity of the actor playing the next James Bond.”
And after listing some of the names which have been rumoured to be taking over from Daniel Craig, including the likes of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Tom Holland, Harris Dickinson, Scott Rose-Marsh and Jacob Elordi, they added: “Now, Euronews Culture can officially end all speculation by revealing that the identity of the new James Bond is… Irish actress and singer Jessie Buckley.”

But before getting too excited, you might want to check the date that particular breaking news was announced. Now who feels like an April fool?
No, it is not actually true that the Golden Globe award-winner will be getting a licence to kill any time soon, although we’re sure she would do a magnificent job playing the famous spy. Of course on April 1, there are many such nonsense headlines doing the rounds so keep your wits about you for anything that seems too far fetched today in particular.
Jessie recently won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film Hamnet, which also starred Irish actor Paul Mescal and was based on the book by Coleraine-born Maggie O’Farrell.
The identity of the next James Bond has yet to be announced.
